The benefits of walking are many, and there might be several reasons for you to start with walking as a form of exercise. Many peoples goal is to loose weight with walking, and it's a really efficient tool for weight loss, if you are doing it regularly. But even if weight loss isn't your main concern it's a good way to lower your cholesterol, for better blood pressure, for back pain problems. You can manage your diabetes with some fitness walking, even if you have the type two diabetes because it will improve your body's ability to process sugar, and that way you can keep it under control. If live a hectic life and are on a tight scedule, walking can be a helpful way to relax and regain energy. The benefits of walking are many.

It's a non costly way of exercising that most people can do. You don't need any expensive equipment, just some comfortable shoes, and you can do it where ever you are. To see the results you wish for, it might be important to set some goal for your walking, just remember to be realistic about it.

If you walk regularly, for example three to five times a week, you will see results before you know it, whatever your reason is for fitness walks. And a nice side effect along the way is that you will feel much more energetic in your everyday life; more positive, get more things done. By adding half an hour of walking every day, you can gain so much more effective time during your day, simply because of the energy you are gaining from a little exercise!

Making it as much fun as you can is a good way of staying motivated and keeping your goals. You can get an mp3 player and listen to an audio book or music. Or, like I did, get a pedometer to keep track on how many steps you are taking each day. It's really a bit fun to compete with yourself, to take some more steps today than the day before. Keep a diary on your walks. That is a really good motivator. It will really bug you after a while, to have to write "0 walking" on a day when you should have been out walking.

After a couple of weeks, you may want to intensify your walking further. You could do that by adding some challenge to your walks.
